Comments:

I worked for KTAL-TV, Shreveport-Texarkana, we were the station you "sometimes" got. I was there for 8 1/2 years then came to WVLA-TV in Baton Rouge in 1971. I got to meet a lot of celebrities at both stations. One of my favorites being Terry Brandshaw. He & team mates came to the station for a news bit when he got the Heisman. As program director I went to the NATPE convention yearly and I have many photos w/stars that only people of my generation remember. I loved my job and it broke my heart when the station sold and one by one got rid of all my job family and replaced us with their own people, combined our station with their Fox station. I resigned in 1997 when they demoted me. At 61 I went to work in a whole new field, printing, and I hated it until I got promoted to Human Resources and so the last 2 years there were good for me. I resigned at 70 and I love retirement. Had the TV station not sold I would probably still be there and loving it. Lovell Joyce Bowlin Harvey

School Story:

Graduated from Timpson High School in 1953. Attended Norton Business College in Shreveport. Worked temp jobs while attending school. Later took some classes from Tyler Jr. College, and LSU short courses.
At Timpson High School I loved being the only 10th grader in the 11th grade play when my cousin, Gloria Bowlin got sick and couldn't do the role. I memorized the lines in 3 days - wish I could still do that! I also had major roles in my Jr. & Sr. year plays. I loved acting. I was in the pep squad all 4 years, my Soph. year was pep squad sweet heart, I served as an officer of my class all 4 years, was a cheer leader Jr. & Sr. years, and was Miss. THS my Sr. year. My favorite teacher, Mr. Eakin. My most unfavorite teacher, Mrs. Crump, I wasn't much of a science fan.

Not having a year book in 1953 was such a disappointment to me. I had worked and saved money for my first year book - and Mrs. Billingsley decided we wouldn't have one. I don't remember her reassons, I just remember my disappointment and how it has affected the rest of my life. I remember my close friends, Jane Collins and Elaine Hairgrove, and a few others in my class, but could only name a very few if asked now. Through the years my mother told me things that were happening to people that went to school during my 4 years at Timpson High, and I had no reference to go to. It is STILL such a loss to me. I do appreciate this web sight so much and thank those of you who devote yourselves to keeping it up for the rest of us.
