We thoght what was interesting about this article was that the Timpson Handle Factory had 10,000 dollars in capital cash when incorporated but in the same article Superior Oil was incorporated with only 20,000 dollars in cash....

We thought this was interesting since volunteers actually worked on building the road. Guess this is Hwy 84 to Caledonia but not sure. Hard to believe that this many citizens pitched in to build this road. Wonder how long it took and how many volunteered???

This is a clipping from the San Bernardino paper befor the Rose Bowl Left to righ: Bear Bryant, Bill Lee, Bob Ed Morrow, Kavanaugh Francis, Charlie Marr, James Whately and Don Hustosn. In case you do recognize the names, four of them played in the NFL and that does not include Bear Bryant. Kavanaugh Francis was drafted in the first official NFL draft in 1936 by Detroit as the 44th pick overall in the 5th round. He never tired out with the team. They offered him 50 dollar a game and job working in a auto plant.

James Hancock was President of the FFA in Texas. This is article in the paper about the talk. The teacher who introduced him was Rushing Manning who taught Ag. at Timpson and in early 1940s served in The Texas Lesgislation as a state representative. Some shcools he taught at were Timpson, Pasasdena and Burleson. His sister was Addie Manning Permenter-S.R. Permenter's wife.

Whatever happened to this project??? One of the purposes for building Lake Timpson was for it apparenlty.
Eighteen million was a huge project back in those times and the people of Timpson passed the bond for the Lake without and vote against it...743 to 0 vote....

Joe Johnson-Class of 1976 was picked to play in the North-South High School All-Star Football game. He was a tremendous running back for the Bears. HIs roomate for this game was suppose to be Johnny "Lam" Jones from Lampass. However Jones as a high school junior made the 1976 Olympic squad as a sprinter and the Olympics was around the same time as the game.
