Mr. Crump passed away on June 23, 2023, in Longview, Texas. He was born in Shelby County on April 20, 1932, to the late Alfred and Winnie (Ramsey) Crump. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Timpson, Texas. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Bobby was born and raised in Shelby County alongside his siblings and was taught superb values and ethics.  He learned how to work hard and earn what he wanted.  He knew that life was what you made it and family was the most important thing, serving second only to his love of Christ.  Upon graduating from high school in Timpson, he began working offshore as a pipefitter and welder and eventually a truck driver for Prime Trucking.  After many years of driving the country and seeing things he never knew existed, he decided to begin driving for himself.  He bought a dump truck and began working for himself.  He loved it so much that he continued his business and didn’t retire until he was 85 years old!

Bobby loved adventure and for many, many years, he indulged in hunting for treasures.  He spent lots of time with his metal detector looking for things that no one knew was there.  He had such a great time doing this and it kept his family involved as well.  He returned every chance he could, to the farm to see his parents, and would drag them and the kids along for the wild treasure hunting adventures.

Through all the things he did and enjoyed, nothing could compare to his love of his family.  He was happiest when they were all around him.  His favorite place was sitting around a table playing “42” or with a great meal and enjoying the company of his family and friends.  He lived a life of happiness.  He never missed an opportunity to laugh or tell a story.  He was very comical and had a quit wit and great sense of humor.  He loved life and did his best to live it to the fullest.  He was seldom seen without a smile and a kind word to say to folks.  He will surely be missed by his family and friends.

Bobby is survived by his daughter, Deborah Hamilton and husband, Neil; sister, Vickie Miller and husband, Randy; brothers, Ronnie Crump and wife, Debbie and Doye Crump and wife, Mary Beth; and sister-in-law, Mary Shellhammer.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that held a very dear place in his heart.  He loved them all deeply.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Wylie and Winnie Bell Ramsey Crump; wife, Betty Cooper Crump; son, Douglas Gene Crump; sisters, Alice Joy Ross and Patricia Ann Clipper and husband, Gene and brothers-in-law, Frank Cooper and wife, Carol and Don Shellhammer.

Serving as pallbearers will be Darron Crump, Nick Crump, Doye Cantrell, Justin Crump, Shane Crump, Heath Hairgrove and James Crump.   Honorary pallbearers are David Billingsley, Bill Morgan and Gregory Gene Ross.
