Sidney (Circa 1939) E. Watson - Class Of 1939 VIEW PROFILE

We know Sidney attended Timpson High School but we are not sure if he graduated but based on several items we have put him withe class of 1939.  Sidney Watson was born February 17, 1923 to Mr. George Watson.  He entered the Army in 1940 and was killed in action in France on August 22, 1944.  He was laid to rest in the Blair Cemetery near Ti,pson.

Larry Hume (Hume)

Born in Shelby County, Texas to Corrie and George Wesley Watson.  He attended Timpson High School before enlisting in the US Army at the age of 17.  He trained at Camp Bowie, Texas, Fort Lewis Washington, Oregon and California before arriving in Liverpool, England with Company M, 117th Infantry Regiment, 30 Infantry Division on February 24, 1944.  They entered combat on Omaha Beach, Normandy, France D-Day +5, June 11, 1944.  The 30th Division spent 282 days in combat with Corporal Watson falling on August 22.  His remains were returned to Timpson, Texas in April 1949 for reburial in the Blair Cemetery.  Rev. W. A. Dollahite and Rev. D. J. Collins officiated.  Military honors rendered by American Legion Post 90, Timpson.
