Eugene Lindsey was born on July 7, 1904 to parents Marion Lee Lindsey and Julia Bergin. He had two siblings, Marion Lindsey and Robert Harris Lindsey.  His father was a Methodist minster who died in 1915 and was laid to rest in Woodlawn in Timpson, Texas.

Eugene ran track at Timpson High School winning the state championships  in the shot put and discus in 1920.  He went on to SMU and despite never having played football lettered in football at SMU in addtion to running track all four years. We know in college he high jumped and threw the shot.

He must have been a good student as he went to become a doctor  He was married to Grace Davis.. He died on May 26,1982 In Beaumont, Texas.
