Ervin died in 1977 and is buried in the Corinth Cemetery.  He retired from Southwest Bell Telephone in 1970.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Timpson and was survived by his mother, Mrs. Lona Eakin and seven brothers and sisters.
