James Frank Todd - Class Of 1934 VIEW PROFILE

We believe this is the correct James Todd.  If anyone knows any difference, please let us know.

James F. Todd was born on December 24, 1917 in Texas to paents Frank and Lurline Todd.  He he had at least four siblings, Fred Todd, Maurene Todd, Edward Todd and John Todd.  He graduated from Timpson High School in 1934.  He enlisted in the Army Air Corp on November 6, 1942.  According to data from his enlistment, he had at least one year of college. His occupation was listed as a skilled engineer, stationary.

Feb. 28, 1917-Oct. 3, 2004-The ranks of the greatest Generation were diminshed by one more with the passing of James F. Todd Sunday afternoon, October 3, 2004.  A descendant of one of the earliest pioneer families of East Texas.  James was born on February 28, 1917.  He was the youngest of five children born to Frank and Lurleen Todd of Shelby County, Texas.  On April 9, 1943, James married Lucy Arlene Black, to whom he remained married for 61 years.  After serving as a photographer analyst with the Army Air Corp in Australia, New Guinea, the Phillipines, and Okinawa during World War II,  James became the first member of his family to recieve a bachelor of science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.  As a civil engineer for the Texas Highway Department (now TXDOT), he rose to the number two position with the district 14 office, before retiring in February of 1978.  James was a deacon and devoted member of Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown.  Pallbearers will be E.W. Moon Mullins, Travis White, James McNair, Jon Parnell, Leroy Hall, and Ken Exum.  Visitation was held Tuesday, October 5, 2004, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Gabriels Funeral Chapel.  Services were held Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 2:00  p.m. at the Crestview Baptist Chruch with Rev. Dan Wooldridge officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pfugerville, Tx.  Arrangements by The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 N.
