H. Harry Askins, 87, died Monday, February 14, 2000. He is survived by his sons, James H. Askins and wife, Julie of Albuquerque and John A. Askins of Las Cruces; granddaughters, Kimberly Ely and husband, Ryan of Rio Rancho and Jennifer Askins of Pueblo, CO; great-granddaughters, Marissa and Breanna Ely, both of Rio Rancho; and sister, Bobbie Edwards of Port Arthur, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lillian A. Askins in November, 1998. Mr. Askins was a lifelong resident of Houston, TX. He was a seasonal resident of Pagosa Springs, CO and had recently moved to Albuquerque this past October. He was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corps, where he served in Burma, India. Mr. Askins worked with Southern Pacific Railroad and with Railway Express for over 30 years. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2000, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Private disposition will take place at a later time.
 
 
Note: The "Heaven On Earth" family headstone was taken from the San Juan River and was custom engraved by John Glass - Monuments in Monte Vista, CO. It currently lays beneath a 22' Blue Spruce tree, planted by Lillian as a 2' sapling in 1978.

Cremated, Ashes scattered.
