Services for Rita N. Ramsey, 85, of Diboll, were held Tuesday, Aug 3, 2004 in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ramsey was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Stockman, Shelby County, the daughter of Florence (Echols) and Thomas S. Franks. She died Friday, July 20, 2004 in a Lufkin hospital. She was a former secretary for the Diboll ISD and had resided in Diboll since 1947. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Diboll, where she served as a choir member for 50 years and a Sunday school teacher. She was a wonderful cook, and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt.
Survivors: husband, Robert T. Ramsey, Sr. of Diboll; son, Robert T. Jr., and Annette Ramsey of Nacogdoches; daughter and son-in-law, Nita N. and Gary Hurley of Diboll; daughter, Deanna L. McMillan of Houston; grandchildren, Trey Ramsey, Holly Ramsey, Aaron Ramsey, Kevin Hurley, Colin Hurley, April Funderburd and Andrea Crump; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
