Roy Magness - Class Of 1930 VIEW PROFILE

Roy worked in the aircraft industry through WWII and until he retired.  I believe he got a couple of patents while working in that industry. His wife was named Grace.  They moved back to East Texas after he retired---between Tenaha and Carthage.  He evidently began his working career in GA, probably around Marietta.  He spent most of his adult life around Grand Prairie.  He was born in AR but moved to Timpson area while a young toddler.  Roy is buried in Panola County.  He had two children, Linda and Larry.

Roy passed away on April 8, 1930.

 

Funeral services for H.L. Magness, 80, of Antioch community were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 1992 at Jimerson Funeral Chapel.  Interment followed in Antioch Cemetery.   The Rev. Roger Cole officiated.   Mr. Magness died Wednesday, April 8, at Doctor's Hospital in Shreveport, LA.

Born March 13, 1912 in Smithville, Ark.,he was the son of William and M. and Elizabeth Clark Magness.  Mr. Magness was retired from Chance-Vaught as an aircraft machinist and had lived in Panola County since 1972, moving from Grand Prairie, Texas.  He was a member of the UAW, AARP, the Ball Club of Central Baptist Church and was a Deacon at Antioch Baptist Chruch.

Mrs. Magness is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Magness of Antioch Community; one son, William Larry Magness of Arlington, Texas, one daughter, Linda Worthy of Antioch Community; two brothers, Rev. Horace Magness and Fred Magness of Timpson;  four sisters, Carrie Stone of Pasadena, Tx., Faye Tinkle of Hardin, Dora Fountain of Shreveport, and Lillian Kyle of Houston; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a number of nieces adn nephews
