Sherill was born in Timpson in 1918 to Irven and Vera Dorsey Bailey in 1918. He was the olderst of three children. His sisters were Willie Irene Bailey, Sarah Nell Bailey and Lavera Bailey. Sherill excelled in sports and band in school. He was offered two scholarships, one in football and the other in band. He chose Baylor and football. Perhaps his best sport was baseball. He was a pilot during WWII. After the war he came back to Timpson but decided to resume his military career. He retired from the military in 1961 and went to work for Eakin Motor Company from which he retired in 1980. Sherill and his wife Elisabeth Moses Baily had three children: Tad, Patricia and Gail. Sherill passed away in 1992.
