Richard Gloria Worsham Dixon was born January 4, 1931 in the Blair Community in Shelby County, Texas to the late Ouida (Askins) and Cecil A.D. Worsham. She grew up in Timpson, Texas, where she was baptized into the Baptist faith in her Grandpa Askins’ pond at the age of eleven. Later, she moved to Lufkin to attend Pineywoods Business School and was a stellar pupil. She became a legal secretary and worked for various law offices and elected officials in Angelina County. With her partner, Grace Osborne, she owned and operated Secretarial Services in Lufkin. Mrs. Dixon and her husband of fifty-eight years, Bona (June) Dixon, enjoyed life on their farm in Clawson, Texas. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church until she moved to Brenham, Texas.

Mrs. Dixon had a passion for fishing, antiques, playing the piano and politics. She was very involved in the Democrat party on the local level in her younger days.
