John was was a former resident of the Stockman area and a 1953 THS graduate.  He worked for the Harris County Appraisal District following his retirement from Gulf Oil Company after 32 years of employment.  His father, Hoy Franks preceded him in death. 

Survivors included: his wife, Joyce Finney Franks; mother, Adelle Powdrill Franks of Timpson; daughters, Jeannie Hoot, Debbie Koehn and husband Craig; sons, Ricky Franks and wife Karen, Randy Franks,all of Houston;  Sisters, Evangeline Williams, of Baytown, Mary Hamilton of Grandbury; brother, Steve Franks, of Carrollton; grandchildren, Kenneth Hoot and Kendall Franks.
