Esther Marie Harvey, 87, of Gary, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2021 in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on June 8, 1933 in Shelby County, Texas, to the late Archie Milburn and Ina Mae (Driggers) Darnell. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Taylor Funeral Home, 511 Ross Graves Dr., Timpson, Texas, 75975, with Bro. Carroll Jones officiating. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 6-8PM at Taylor Funeral Home.

Esther Marie graduated Timpson High School class of 1951. She married Veston (Tenny) Harvey on January 5, 1952. They were married almost 60 years before his death in 2011. Esther Marie loved to cook. She was PTA president and involved with her children’s’ school activities. She loved working at the Timpson Library and the genealogy society. She volunteered at the Esther’s Clothes Closet for several years. While at the nursing home she loved going on outings with them and playing bingo there.

Her son Emmett Harvey and wife Gayle of Gary

Daughter, Sandra Abernathy and husband Gene of Carthage

Karyn Smith of Longview
Tammy McFarlin and husband Michael of Troup
Timothy McKnight and wife Kristina of Gary

A host of family and friends that will miss her dearly

She is preceded in death by her husband, Veston Harvey; parents Milburn and Ina Mae Darnell; brother, Emmett Darnell; and great granddaughter, Trinity Rose McKnight.

Family would especially like to thank the entire staff at Garrison Nursing Home for the exceptional care extended to her over the past four years.

Pallbearers serving will be Ryan Clay Stamps, Gabe Smith, Timothy McKnight, Michael McFarlin, Junior Woodfin, and Johnny Woodfin.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Woodfin, Wayne Harvey, Owen Harvey, Wesley Boren, and Tommy McKnight.
