 Emmett Eugene Darnell, 80, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on December 1, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. He was born February 8, 1931, in Timpson, Texas, to the late Archie Milburn and Ina Mae Driggers Darnell. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army and was the water district manager for Newton & Co. He was a member of Procter Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Melancon's Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, in Nederland, on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., Bro. Alvin Tomlinson and Bro. Walter Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County Cemetery in Nederland. Emmett is survived by his wife, Katherine Darnell of Nederland; daughter, Brenda Macha and husband, Danny of Nederland; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy Macha, Jordan Macha, and Lyndsie Macha; and 2 sisters, Esther Marie Harvey of Timpson and Edna Merle Dean of Humble. He is preceded in death by his parents.
