Robert "Bob" Leon Matteauer, Jr.

Robert "Bob" Leon Metteauer, Jr., of Palestine, was called home to his eternal home in Heaven on Monday, the 5th day of July 2021. Mr. Metteauer passed away at his home with his wife by his side at the age of 83. He was born on the 31st day of January 1938, in Tyler, Texas, to parents Robert Leon Metteauer and Evelyn Dean Metteauer. 
Mr. Metteauer was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he dedicated his entire life to teaching and guiding students in public schools throughout Texas. He took on various roles within education to prepare countless students for their future endeavors. He began his career in Floydada, Texas, Barbers Hill, and later worked for Westwood I.S.D. for years before retiring from the district in 2007. After retirement, Mr. Metteauer found more time for serving at First Baptist Church as a Deacon and on various committees. 
He is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, Robert and Evelyn Metteauer. 
Mr. Metteauer leaves behind his loving wife Carol Metteauer; daughter, Ann Gutierrez and husband Joel of Hurst, Texas; son, Phil Meuret and wife Lydia of Helotes, Texas; brother, Joe Dean Metteauer and wife Vickie of Calhoun, Georgia; grandchildren, Jackson Meuret, Jake Meuret and wife Katie, Reagan Meuret, Rachel Gutierrez, Micah Gutierrez, and Caleb Gutierrez. He is also survived by several cousins, nephews, and many friends. 
A memorial service with Military Honors to celebrate the life of Bob Metteauer is to be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, the 10th day of July 2021 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jay Abernathy officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the start of the service. 
Friends are cordially invited to a reception with the family immediately following the service in the Rhone Reflection Room. 
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Bob Metteauer's memory can be directed towards First Baptist Church of Palestine Building Fund, 5700 N. Loop 256, Palestine, Texas 75801, Heart-to-Heart Hospice Foundation, 7240 Chase Oaks Blvd., Plano, Texas 75025, or First Resource Center, 801 N. Sycamore St., Palestine, Texas 75802.
