Murlin Virginia Poskey, age 77, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Murlin was born January 7, 1943 in Big Sandy, TX to Alfred and Othella Stephens. She was the youngest child in a large, tight-knit family. She graduated from Timpson High School in 1961. Following graduation, she enrolled in beauty college and worked as a beautician for several years. Also, in 1961, she met the man of her dreams, John D. Poskey, at a local dance. They were married on November 30th, 1963 and they shared over 56 wonderful years of marriage. She loved nothing more than going on impromptu road trips with one or more of her sisters Often times, winding up at a local casino or going to “take a bath” in Hot Springs, AR.

However, the greatest joy of her life was spending time with her 4 grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to attend a school or sporting event and quickly became an honorary softball, volleyball, baseball, swim, cheer, and soccer Memaw. Memaw’s “red bus” was always loaded and ready for the next adventure.

She did not “lose her battle with cancer” because she fought hard enough to accomplish the things she wanted to do in her Earthly life. Shortly after Kaylee’s graduation, she said to her family, “I made it.” We always knew she would. Murlin was preceded in death by her parents and 8 siblings. Murlin is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John, and her children Alan Poskey and wife Judy of Camden, Shannon Williams and husband Justin of Willis. Her grandchildren, Shelby Daniel, Kaylee Daniel, Lawson Williams, and Aliza Poskey. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Heart To Heart Hospice, nurses Rochelle Garcia and Kathy McMillan, and the numerous friends and family that have offered prayers and support during Murlin’s illness.

Special thanks to pallbearers Justin Williams, Darryl Williamson, Dan Ryan, John C. Poskey, Lynn Ainsworth, David Poskey, Marvin Mercer, and Mike Poskey and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund, 1422 CR 724, Nacogdoches, TX 75964.
