Funeral services for Mr. Charles Edwin Mims, 48, of Gary were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 24, 1995 at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage.  The Rev. Terry Wright officiated.  Interment followed in Corinth Cemetery by the brothers of the Gary Masonic Lodge #1101 A.F.&A.M.. Gary, Texas.

Born on July 23, 1946 in Timpson, he was the son of Charles Lowrey and Ernie Kirby Mims.  Mr. Mims grew up in the Timpson area , and attended school in Nacogdoches and Timpson, graduating from Timpson High School in 1964.  He worked many years for the Trailmobile Trailer Company in Longview before moving to Gary in 1969. Mr. Mims was currently employed with Bush Constuction Company as a heavy equipment operator, and was a member of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, and the Gary Masonic Lodge #1101 A.F.&A.M. On Juner 21, 1968 he married the former Peggie Ritter in Timpson.

Mr. Mims is survived by his wife, Mrs. Peggy Mims of Gary; his mother, Mrs. Ernie Mims of Gary; two daughters, Pattie Michelle Taylor, and Melody R. Mims, both of Carthage; one brother, and sister-in-law, Joe and Sharon Mims of Gary; one grandson, Thomas Scott Taylor of Carthage; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers were Brothers of the Gary Masonic Lodge #1101 A.F.&A.M.
