M. T. Green - Class Of 1924 VIEW PROFILE

M.T. Green was born on July 4,1902.  He was a honor student in the Class of 1924 at Timpson High School.  He studied engineering at the University of Texas and recieved his B.S. degree.  He later recieved his Master degree from George Peabody College of Vanderbuilt Unviversity in Math.  After a short career in engineering he entered the educational field as an adminstrator, with most of his career being in Dallas.  He served as a Captain in the Army Air Force during WWII.

Following his retirement he began doing volunteer work.  He planned theatre dinner parties  for older member os his church, Highland Park United Methodist Church and later worked in the Outreach Office.  He and Grance, his wife of fifty-two years hve one son, Dr. William Lackey Green an wife, Diane, Wilton. CONN., and two granddaughters , Victoria and Elizabeth Green, both enrollled in Universities , brother Fowler T. Green, Timpson, and wife, Belle.

Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 1994, Cox Chapel, Highland Park United Mehodist Church, Rev. Ken Dickinson officiating.  Memorial may be made to the Wesley Davis Scholarship Fund or the Molly Malone Fund, both care of Highland Park United Methodist Church.  (Obituary courtesty of Timpson Area Obituaries Book-TAGH)

He attended the University of Texas School of Engineering working for Texaco after graduation but developed an allergy to petrouleum products.  He went back to school and earned a masters in math from George Peabody College---now Vanderbilt.  After finishing school, taught math at a high school where he met and married Grace Lackey in June of 1942.  He enlisted for the Army Air Corp once WWII started serving as a cryptographic officer in Alaska and Aleutian Islands.
