Obituary of Therrill "TC" C Hughes

IN THE CARE OF

Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery

Therrill C “TC” Hughes was born December 12, 1927, in Timpson, Texas (Shelby County) and passed from this life on June 7, 2022. He graduated from Timpson High School in 1945 and subsequently entered the United States Navy during WWII to serve in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Springfield. Following his service, TC attended the University of Houston and spent the greater part of his career working for Sears in management for 24 years and business consulting for 11 years following his retirement. TC became a Christian in 1952 and was baptized for the remission of his sins at Wayside and Sherman Church of Christ which is the present Southeast Church of Christ in Friendswood, TX, serving as a Deacon for over 30 years.

In March 1954, TC married his bride, Miss Beth Ann Small and they were married for over 68 years. He is preceded in death by his father, Alford C. Hughes, mother, Laura E. Jolley Hughes, brother Lee Lavon Hughes, and niece Cindy Zerwas. TC is survived by his devoted wife, Beth, daughter Dana Beth Webb and her husband, Don; two grandchildren who affectionally called him “Grand T:” Shannon Beth Molenburg (husband Shay) and Evan William Webb (wife Courtney) and one great-granddaughter, Audralynn Beth Molenburg, with another great-grandchild due in October. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Nell Bollman; niece, Sherry Reaves (husband Bob), nephews Lee Hughes (wife Sara), Dr. John Zerwas (wife Sylvia), Mike Bollman (wife Judy), Steve Bollman (wife MaryKate), and numerous relatives and friends.

TC enjoyed writing about his early years and sharing the importance of remembering history, including those who bravely sacrificed their lives during World War II, thus changing the face of history. Most importantly, his legacy consists of his unwavering faith, remembrances from family and others with whom he has shared scripture. TC fervently believed in the hope that all Christians would “earnestly contend for the faith, which was once for all, delivered to the saints” (Jude 3) and believed according to the scriptures that God possesses “infinite wisdom and marvelous grace conceived and formed an enteral purpose to redeem mankind through Christ Jesus our Lord (Ephesians 3:11). This purpose was formed “before time again” and was gradually revealed down through the ages until it came to fruition in Christ, the gospel, the church, and the New Testament” (Titus 1:1-3; 2 Timothy 1:8-12).
