Funeral arrangements for Thomas Pleasant Hughes, Jr., 68 were held at 1 p.m. Jan. 24 at the First Baptist Church, Timpson with the Rev. John Goss officiating.

Mr.Hughes died Jan. 21, in Nacogdoches Medical Center Hospital.

He was born to Thomas P. and Mary Elizabeth Hughes on Nov., 26, 1927, in Timpson where he graduated from high school in 1945.  Mr. Hughes graduated from Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1953.and was World War II veteran.  He retired from IBM , Inc. after 30 years as as a Customer Service Engineer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Gage Hughes in 1993.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his son, Andrew Glenn Burdeaux of LaPorte; three daughters, Kathyrn Steffens, of Timpson, Shannon Burdeaux, of Pasadena, and Lori E. Hughes, of Houston, of Houston; three sisters, Oneta Murrell, of Lake Jackson, Osteen Granger, of Orangefield, and Mildred Samford of Center; and four grandchildren Joel, Alyssa, and Brett Burdeaux, ad Krist Steffens.

Pallbearers for the service will be Mr. Hughes' nephews

Services will be under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson.
