Honoring the life and service to our country of US Army Air Forces World War II Veteran, Staff Sergeant Everett Allen Gaines on the 74th year of his passing.  Everett was born in Carthage New York to Roy and Hilda Whiteford Gaines.  He married Nora Doris Goolsby of Timpson, Texas on August 1st, 1942 at Ellington Field, Texas. He was a flyer who was killed in a combat training accident along with 7 others when his B-24 collided with another B-24 after taking off from the Fort Worth Army Air Field. He died in the service of his country six days before his 27th birthday. Nora Goolsby-Gaines-Rice, now 94 lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I had a wonderful conversation with Nora in 2014 and she graciously added to the story I was researching about her late husband. Sadly she passed August 10, 2017 at the age of 94 and is buried with her second husband J. Edwin Rice in New York.   Everett is buried in the New Prospect Cemetery, in Timpson, Texas and his stone has an inscription "He Gave His Today For Our Tomorrow".
