Morgan Baker - Class Of 2007 VIEW PROFILE

Morgan Leon Baker, 32, of Timpson, Texas, passed away on May 30, 2021, in Carthage, Texas. He was born on September 2, 1988, in Nacogdoches, Texas, to Frankie Baker and Christy (Brown) Bass.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 3, 2021, at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson, Texas, 75975, with Bro. Eric Pledger officiating.

Visitation service will be held at 1:00 PM at Taylor Funeral Home, prior to the Funeral service.

Morgan grew up in Blair community in Timpson, where he was surrounded by a magnitude of loving friends and family. He attended Timpson ISD from kindergarten up until 12th grade where he graduated with the senior class of 2007.

He never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with a smile and a big heart. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his children, whether it be throwing the baseball, spending the day fishing, or floating the river. He found comfort around his friends and family, and always found a way to the domino table or to the washer boards. Singing with good friends was always a special time that he cherished so immensely. Visiting with friends and family at various gatherings was a major part of who he was, as time spent with others for him was time well spent.

His favorite bible scripture was Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” This scripture has grown with him from his childhood while he attended various churches with family and friends.

Three people died Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 59 south of Carthage, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Morgan Lee Baker, 32, of Timpson, Juan Francisco Burgos, 39, of Conroe and a 1-year-old boy died at the scene, Sgt. Jean Dark said.

Troopers responded around 11 p.m. Saturday about nine miles south of Carthage. A preliminary investigation shows that a truck was traveling south and on the wrong way on the highway when it struck another truck traveling in the northbound lanes, Dark said.

Baker was identified as the driver of the truck driving the wrong way. Baker’s body was taken to Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage, Dark said.

Burgos was identified as the driver of the truck that was struck. The 1-year-old who died, as well as two other passengers, were in Burgos’s truck as well. Maria Felix Burgos, 37, of Conroe was taken to Christus Good Shepherd Marshall in critical condition. A 15-year-old girl was taken to LSU Medical Center Shreveport in serious condition, Dark said.

The crash remains under investigation.
