Denard and I lived near each other(me in new prospect & he on Center Hwy.) Don't remember how we became friends but had some like intrest, motor cycles, and music. He taught me how to play chords and do rythm to his steel guitar playing, me on the flat top box. Denard was a natural, teaching himself how to play steel on strings he hooked on nails came over a bridge and attached to wood screws for tuning! This was on the edge of his back porch, so he would stand on the ground with a pick and steel bar and play. Later getting an electric steel and amplifier. I didn't keep up with him after my graduation and after a year at Tyler Commercial College and working for Mcleroy Appliance in Timpson, I joined the US Army for 3 years. Then at SFA and Marriage off to Port Neches,Tx till this day. I know he will be missed by his family and friends. Rest in Peace Dennard.       from Amos Risinger
