Glenda Louise Hebert Watters

Glenda Louise Hebert Watters of Nacogdoches passed away after an extended illness on May 22, 2020. Glenda’s parents were Edmond H. and Louise Rutherford Hebert of Timpson; she was born on November 18, 1936.

Glenda was a very active child, growing up riding her horse and having dogs and cats surrounding her. In fact, Glenda loved all God’s creatures.

In high school she wanted to graduate a year early which the principle permitted her to do. Glenda enrolled at Stephen F Austin University. Besides being a very intelligent person, she was also named “top beauty” at SFA her freshman year. She furthered her education at North Texas University at Denton where she received BA degree and later received a Master’s degree from NTU.

Glenda taught school in Denver, CO, Sherman, TX, and Nashville, TN. Before venturing to Atlanta, GA to pursue careers in journalism/writing, editing books written by her husband Pat Watters, and engaging in real estate. Glenda was a person of many talents.

Glenda and Pat later moved to Louisiana where he taught in a college until his health became a concern. She remained there a few years until her desire was to move to Nacogdoches. She engaged in various activities and had recently written a book, My Life Takes Up Too Much of My Time.

Glenda’s “free spirit” personality and hearing her humorous stories will be missed. Especially missing her will be the ducks at the SFA pond which she fed twice daily for many years. They hurriedly rushed to her car as she drove to the pond.

Glenda was preceded by her parents Edmond H and Louise R Hebert and her husband Pat Watters.

Surviving Glenda is her step-sister Martha W. Wheeler of Timpson.

Glenda’s wishes were not to have a service, any memorials given in her name may be given to an animal rescue service of your choice.
