John Benjamin McLendon was born on February 3, 1910 in Nacogdoches to parents Henry Martin McLendon and Lula Annie Welch.  He had at least two siblings, Adelle and Ida McLendon.  He graduated from Timpson High School in 1927.  On June 3, 1939 in Alameda, California he married Gertrude Margaret Cannon.  It appears he lived in California most of his adult life.  John McLendon died on November 13, 1993 in Los Angeles.
