Mathilde Scott (Rhodes) - Class Of 1932 VIEW PROFILE

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Mathilde Scott Rhodes were held Monday, May 30, 1994 at 3 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel in Timpson, Texas wtih burial at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson.  The Rev. Douglas McDonald, long time family friend officiated adn music was provided by Irene Horton.

Mrs. Rhodes died Sunday, May 29, 1994 in the North Place Nursing Center in Nacogdoches, after a lengthy illness.

She was born November 26, 1915 to Madie Dennard and Wade Hampton Scott in Timpson, Shelby County, Texas, where she lived her entire life.

She and Rev. Robert Rhodes were married June 28, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1984.  She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Lufkin, Burkeville, Hicky, Garrison and Timpson. She was also a homemaker and a minster's wife.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Timpson where she taught Sudnay School class for many years adn united at an early age.

Seh is survived by a son, Scotty Rhodes of Timpson, and a brother-in-law, Grady Rhodes of Longview, a number of cousins, and a host of friends, and two extra childhood friends, Doris and Maybelle Burns.

Pallbearers were Charles Towns, Tim McDonald, Austin Thacker, George Duke, Robert Burns and Randy Graves.
