John Tyson was born on August 28, 1919 in Shelby County Texas. He was the son of Austin and Ercell Sapp Tyson.  Records show he had one brother born in 1918 that died in 1920 and a sister, Eugenia Tyson born in 1923 that died in 2003.  John graduated fron Timpson High School and attended Marshall College and Texas A&M. On July 14, 1941 he enlisted in the Air Corp in Dallas.  He was a highly decorated in the war.  Flying numerous, dangerous missions.  John stayed in the Air Force after the war and reached the rank of Lt. Colonel.  He married Ruth Patton and they had two children, John Tyson, Jr. and Barbara Tyson.  John died on January 8, 2003 and was laid to rest in the Blair Cemetery near Timpson.
