Leslie Paul Francis was born on March 26, 1917 to parents Kavanaught Hendrix Francis and Alma Beatrice Sanders in Aliceville, Alabama.  He had at least one sibling, William Kavanaugh Francis.  in 1913 the Francis family was living in Timpson according the 1930 census.  Both Kavanaught and Paul were outstanding football players at Timpson.  Paul graduated in 1934 from Timpson High School.   On June 18, 1942  Paul married Aleese C. Francis who passed away in 2005.  On August 9, 2009 Paul passed away in Harlingen, Texas.
