Hazel Hawthorn (Ledbetter-Crabb) - Class Of 1934 VIEW PROFILE

Hazel "Sister" Aleen Hawthorn Crabb  was born on September 10, 1917 to parents Bernard James Hawthorn and Aleen Trammell..  She had at least two siblings, Bernard Joseph Hawthorn, Jr.(1911-1961) and Doris Lucille Hawthorn (1921-2009).  She graduated from Timpson High School in 1934. She married Jack R. Crabb. They had two children, Harold and Michael Crabb.  She taught in the Houston Independent School District.Hazel passed away on January 29, 1963 and was laid to rest in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Timpson, Texas.  On her tombston it reads "A Lovely And Accomplished Pianist and Friend"

Funeral services for Mrs. Jack R. Crabb were held Thrusday afternoon, Jan. 31, at 4:30 in the chapel of the Fogel West Funeral Home, Houston with the Rev. Phil Trammell, Texarkana, officiating. Mrs. Hazel Crabb was the daughter of the late Bernard J. Hawthorn and Aleen Trammell Hawthorn, both long time residents of Timspon.  She was born September 10, 1919 in Timspon, attended and graduated from Timpson public schools.   After graduating from SMU, she taught in Kilgore, Overton and Austin. Until ill health forced her to resign in 1962, she was a second grade teacher in Louisa May Alcott  Elementary School, Houston.

Gravesdie services were held at Woodlawn Cemetery here, at 2 pm, Friday, Feb., 1, with Rev. Bruce Krause of Troup, officiating. Pallbearers were J.N. Craig, Weeks Crawford, Irwin Bailey, Mack Taylor, Robing Hooper, Sil Winfrey and Edmond Herbert. 

Mrs. Crabb is survived by her husband, Jack; two sons, Michael of Houston and Harry of U.S. Air Force, San Antonio; ons sister, Mrs. Doris Thompson of Troups, and five nephew.
