Burtis Owen Harvey - Class Of 1938 VIEW PROFILE

Burtis was born on November 5, 1920 and graduated from Timpson High School  He served in the Army during WWII reaching the rank of staff Sargent.  He died on March 23, 1998 and is buried in the Corinth Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas.

Funeral services of Burtis Owen Harvey, 77, of Gary, will be held at 10am today at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel.  The Rev. Rex Humphrey and Jon Forrest will officiate and burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery in Timpson under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home. He died Monday at Medical Center Hospital in Nacogdoches.

Born Nov. 5, 1920 in Shelby County, he was the son of Jones Jefferson and Sally Anderson Harvey.  He was retired from Trailmobile in Longview, and was a member of First Christian Church in Timpson. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII,

Survivors include his wife, Annie Beth (Briey) Harvey, of Gary;sons and daughters-in-laws, Charles Wayne and Yvonne Harvey of Heber Springs, Ark.,and William Owen "Bill" and brothers , Elton "Short" Harvey, of Longview, and Veston Harvey, of Timspon; grandchildren, Chris Harvey, Jackie and Missie Harvey, Dusty and John Wheeler adn Lesley Boren; great grandchild, Tyler Harvey.

Pallbears will be Bryan Barnhart, Tom Merchant, James Emmett Harvey, Bill McIntosh and David Pass.  Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Williams, Ermon Starky,Harold Hughes, and Red Whiteside.
