The following pictures and bio compliments of Larry Hume.

1938 Timpson HS graduate, joined the Army Air Forces in 1939 with cousin Gus Childs (still lives in Timpson). Philip was a backseat gunner on A-24 Attack Dive Bombers. The A-24 had lethal capabilities as a bomber but had very low air speed and limited range. His formation of 7 A-24's were no match for a group of Japanese Zero's and only 2 of 14 aircrew members survived that day. Philip Childs and Pilot Lt. Virgil Schwab have been missing for 73 years.
