Novis Marie (Bowlin) Jones was called by her Heavenly Father Jan. 26, 2013, in Tyler, at the age of 91.

She was born to Henry Bowlin and Myra Whitson Bowlin Dec. 8, 1921.

She will be remembered for her poetry, having written a poem for many occasions. She was a lifelong resident of the Buena Vista and New Prospect communities, having moved to Paxton and then to Carthage in her latter years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Jones; her parents, Henry and Myra Whitson Bowlin; her brother, Bevie Lee Bowlin; and her sister, Ruby Towns.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Jones Bell, Tyler; son, Biff H. Jones, Carthage; grandchildren, Bill Bell, Belinda Cook, Brenda Shepherd, Barbara Powers and Beth Calhoun, Tyler; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Novis M. Jones will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson, with the Rev. Ron Barker officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Timpson Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund; Heart to Heart Hospice, Tyler; or Oak Brook Health Center, Whitehouse.
