Forrest was a classmate of mine and one of Tommy Mack's and my best friends. He was 6 months older than me and probably one of the better athletes that came through Timpson. He made first team in his freshman year and was outstanding. He had knee injuries every year after and never reached his full capacity. He received his letter every year in football and basketball and 3 years in
baseball and 2 years in track because of knees. He wrote the sports columns in the school paper, was in the Jr & Sr plays, and was very popular in school. The three of us hauled ice every summer for his brother Buck Hailey and the Timpspn Ice Plant. Forrest was taking care of his wife, who was an invalid, and he suffered a stroke in 2004. He was moved back to East Texas to a nursing home in Center where he stayed until he passed away.
