Funeral services for Mary Eva (Murphy) Rogers, 83, of Timpson, TX will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, July 7, 2011, in Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson, with Rev. Elmer Mathews and Rev. Tim Lovelady officiating.  Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery, Rusk County, TX. Mrs. Rogers passed away July 5, 2011, in Nacogdoches, TX.

Born October 30, 1927, in the Caledonia Community of Rusk County, TX, Mary Eva (Murphy) Rogers was the daughter of the late Bob and Minnie Ola (Ash) Murphy.  She graduated from Timpson High School in 1945.  On August 4, 1946, she married Charles D. “Jimmy” Rogers.  Not only did she lovingly care for her family, she also was willing to work outside her home.  Her talents were many and allowed her to be a floral designer, rural mail carrier, and home health aid.  She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, Timpson, and was secretary/treasurer of Caledonia Cemetery Committee.

Survivors include her daughters Brenda Whiteside of Timpson and Lila Lovelady and husband Tim of Kingwood, TX; 3 grandchildren: Matt Whiteside, Beki Smith and husband Phil, and Leah Lovelady; and 2 great grandchildren: Reagan Andrew Smith and Taylor Marie Smith.

In addition to her parents, Mary Eva Rogers was preceded in death by husband Charles D. “Jimmy” Rogers, son-in-law Jim Whiteside, 2 brothers: Joel Murphy and Hoya Murphy, and sister Ozella Mansinger.

Ralph Corry (1966)

I saw and talked to Mary Eva at the Blair Church in summer of 2010, I believe.  She still remembered and recognized me.  Unbelievable.  Always remember waiting on the mail from Mr. Rogers  in Weaver in his VW.  He normally came by at 11:30.    It was the highlight of the day out in the country....especially during the summer.
