Jimmy Williams - Class Of 1948 VIEW PROFILE

 

Jimmie C. Williams, 84, of Vidor passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 at his residence. He was a native of Timpson, Texas and former longtime resident of Pasadena, Texas and had lived the past sixteen years in Vidor. Mr. Williams was born on November 8, 1928 to his parents John T. Williams and Lorena McIntyre Williams who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Long, Ruby Walker, Madge Rodgers, brothers, John Williams and Tom Williams, his fishing buddy. Jimmie was a PBX Repairman with Alcatel-Lucent, formerly known as AT&T, where he received numerous awards for exceptional work. He also worked for countless hours with NASA during several of their space expeditions where he at any minute could be called upon to establish phone communications if lost. In addition to his hobby of fishing, he enjoyed playing dominoes, specializing in 84, was an avid hunter, world traveler, and involved in several historical sunken ship excavations in the local area with The Texas Archeological Society. Surviving Jimmie are his loving wife Darleen Duke Williams of Vidor, daughter Debbie Lewis of Jasper, sister, Fay Miller of Conroe, three grandsons, Chris Perry of Richmond, Virginia, Erik Lewis and Josh Lewis both of Jasper and several nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Ramona Williams of Silsbee, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jan and Doris Duke of Vidor. Visitation will be on Monday evening at Pine Forest Baptist Church of Vidor from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Forest Baptist Church of Vidor. Dr. Stephen Dollar and Rev. Bruce Lockett will be officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park of Vidor under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to Pine Forest Baptist Church of Vidor or First Pentecostal Church of Vidor in Jimmie's honor. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to both the Texas Home Health and Odyssey Hospice organizations for their kind and compassionate care of Jimmie during his times with them.
