Erdie Lee McLeroy was born on January 10, 1930 in Timpson, Texas to Homer McLeroy and Minnie Faye Eison. He had four siblings, Doris Onida McLeroy (1920-2000), Auvis Maudell McLeroy (1922-2006), Veltus Lamar McLeroy (1925-1999) and Willie Leverle McLeroy (1927-1999). He graduated from Timpson High School in 1948. In 1950, he married Doris married Doris M. McLeroy. He served as a Staff Sgt. in the Air Force during the Korea War. At the age of 68 on July 17, 1998, Erdie passed away in Wharton, TX.
