(1937-2017) Marie Mercer passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Marie, who recently celebrated her eightieth birthday, was born November 10, 1937, in Timpson, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Corine (Nall) and Frank Wedgeworth. Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, and solving puzzles. Before retiring, she worked many years at Sears as a manager. She was a Christian and a Southern Baptist church member. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Allen Mercer of Midland. Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law Janice and Rhett Gist of Midland; daughter and son-in-law Darlene and Terry Wilson of Lexington, Texas. Marie's grandchildren include Cutler Gist and wife Jacque, Kelson Gist and wife Lauren, Morgan MacDonald and husband Chad, Darcy Gist, Sarah Wilson, and Mariah Wilson. Her great-grandchildren are Cora, Ewan, Meredith, and Zelda MacDonald; Thatcher, Mercer, and Mabel Gist; and Alyssa Gist. Surviving siblings are Margie Bunch, Clara Pitts and husband Jesse, and Ann Harrison. She has many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Marie was preceded in death by her great-grandson Mercer Michal Gist, sister Jeanette Hodges, and brothers James Wedgeworth and Bob Wedgeworth. The family would like to express their gratitude towards the Midland Memorial Hospital staff and Hospice of Midland for their care. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland, TX. Services will be Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Midland.
