Richard Steve Clay, 80 years old, passed away on November 29, 2016. He entered this world on November 28, 1936 in Timpson, Texas born to George and Gladys Clay. After serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps., he graduated from Stephen F. Austin College. He settled in Baton Rouge and worked in industrial insulation for Hullinghorst Industries and Iberville Insulation. Lovingly nicknamed "Triky" for his sly, impish sense of humor. He was loved by friends and family and never met a stranger. Happy trails to him, until we meet again. Richard is survived by his wife, Judy Vasbinder Clay; daughter, Laura Clay Ferguson, husband, Daniel J. Ferguson, Jr.; grandson, Ryan Steve Ferguson, wife, Erin Gauthier; and brother, Travis Clay, Jr. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, George Travis and Gladys Clay; and brother, Harold Clay. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Pallbearers will be Daniel Ferguson, Jr., Ryan Ferguson, Michael Madere, Scott Miley, LJ Miley and Robert Miley. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Madere and Lieutenant Colonel Keith Madere.
