Funeral services for James “Jim” Edward Whiteside, Jr., 62, of Timpson, TX, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel, Timpson, with Rev. Elmer Mathews and Rev. Tim Lovelady officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemtery, Timpson. Mr. Whiteside passed away December 18, 2010, in Timpson, TX.

Born August 27, 1948, in Wurzburg, Germany, Jim Whiteside was the son of the late James “Red” Edward Whiteside, Sr. and Clovis Hulon Sanders Whiteside. He was a graduate of Timpson High School and attended Panola College and Texas A & M University before graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University. Jim married Brenda Rogers of Timpson on December 21, 1968, and she survives him. He and his father were co-owners of Whiteside Chevrolet in Timpson, and later he was owner of JBM Transportation. Jim was also a member of First Christian Church, Timpson.

Survivors include his wife Brenda Rogers Whiteside of Timpson; son Matt Whiteside of Nacogdoches; and mother-in-law Mary Eva Rogers of Timpson.

Ralph Corry (1966)

The last time that I saw Jim was in May of 2006. He was preparing to go somewhere but still took the time for a long conversation. I think as someone(either Wanda or Judy) said from our class, "I will always remember Jim in his football uniform in the yearbook." That is the way I remember Jim also.

Lawayne Hendricks (1969)

I remember that Jim always had a unique way of doing things. I enjoyed watching his ways on the football field  and on the basketball court. His way of playing sports always enthused me. Jim was always a gentleman on the field, on the court or just walking up and down the hallways.
