Kenneth McCarty

Kenneth was surived by daughters-Lisa, Shannon and Becky. His wife, Francis had passed away in June.

The following statements and pictures were from Kenneth's facebook pages and was posted after we received permission from his daughter Becky Garrett Carter to let us use.  Becky has joined the site as a gues member if anyone would like to email her.

Lisa Baker- I want to take a moment to thank every person who came to help us say our last goodbye to Kenny everyone's story was heartfelt and enjoyable to hear it really helped Becky and I more than you'll ever know. I know his service was different but its exactly how Kenny would have wanted it to be. I love hearing stories about him and in the 35 years he was our father i have never heard the same story twice. Thank you to each and everyone who came and shared your friends story with us.

The following posted by his daughter Shannon Garrett Houge:

Dear Kenny,
Let me start this out by telling you I love you. As you look down from Heaven today, I am sorry that you will not be seeing me saying my final goodbyes to you with the rest of the family. It is however to me, bitter sweet for me not to be there. You always told me that you understood the reasons why I left Louisiana and that I had to make it on my own. You told me that the one t...hing that we had most in common was that we both are the "Black Sheep and the Free Spirited" ones of our families. Funny how the statement that hurts sometimes, I find the most comfort in today. The love that we shared not just Father and Daughter relationship, but the first true friend that I ever had. Sometimes, I felt even closer to you than I did Moma, because no matter if I was sitting in your livingroom on the couch or whatever time I called you from Iraq, you always made time to talk and to tell me how proud you were of me and how much you loved me and the young lady that I became. I owe who I am today to of course God, but a whole lot to you because when I didnt have faith in myself you had it for me. You always told me that I was somebody and that you were so thankful that I came into your life. As I am older now, and I know that the talks that we had about my "real" Daddy hurt you, then in that dump truck over a ham and cheese sandwich..you never let me know. You always told me that my "Real" Daddy loved me and just didnt know what he left behind, and gave to you. Little did he know, that because he wasnt ready yet....He gave me a man to love me and a best friend to always be beside me.
Well it is 5 minutes before your memorial starts, please be with Lisa Baker and Becky Garrett Carter today because I cant be. Watch over them and their family so that they will find the strength to make it through. I love them and I love you with all of my heart. Tell Momma and Papaw and my first true crush that I love them and I can't wait to see you all again.

Love your BlackSheep in South Carolina,
Shannon

Gary Buchann I gotta say I attended one of the finest and most unique memorial services I have ever I have ever had the pleasure to behold. It was for our old friend and guitar legend , Kenny McCarty. I can only hope mine would be filled with such happiness and tears of joy for a life well lived by a most respected individual, both by me and a standing room only! I completely lost count of the amount of folks ...who got up and made a testimony of fond memories and antecdotes of experiences, both funny and touching. Most involved his skills as a musician and how he touched their lives. When all was said and done, I worked up the nerve to point out one other thing: The size of that beautiful heart that has affected my life throughout my whole professional career. Kenny took his own time to teach me how to read charts that have allowed me to play in any studio and on any stage without rehearsal. The point is that he did this of his accord after hearing me play one show at the La. Hayride. HE SAVED MY BACON FOR THE REST OF MY CAREER on his own accord. God Bless You Kenny and may you Rest in Peace With the Best of Them!! Love You and will never forget you, Gary Buchanan

The memorial yesterday for Kenny McCarty, my uncle, was unique abd beautiful. I loved hearing the stories from his music friends/family who were such a large part of his life. Lisa Baker, Becky Garrett Carter and Shannon Garrett Houge, keep the memories of your dad close. I know he's already above and rejoicing that he is with your mom again. I love each one of you and I'm here for you if you need me.

Kenneth,

I think about all the fun times you, me, and Tuffy had during and after high school.  We'll all be together again in the near future.  Just want to say I remember you trying to teach me to play the guitar in high school.  In my yearbook, you signed by your picture, "Keep Picking."  I still try and I know you are still picking up there with all the great ones.

Be seeing you

Bobby
